Media Outlets have finally come around to describing the situation in Iraq as a Civil War. Merry Christmas! Civil War is the gift that keeps on giving grief. Why not take this landmark as an opportunity to review Frontline’s detailed account of the failed first year in Iraq? I think I smell a holiday tradition in the making. One critique of the Frontline doc, it fails to connect dots. For instance, why did the Bush administration insist on June 2004 as the month to turn over “sovereignty?” I think the August Republican National Convention had something to do with it. It also fails to take into account the graft and laziness of the US corporations brought in to “rebuild” the country while the Iraqis had no jobs. Still, great accounts of 25 year-old frat boys brought in to rebuild entire ministries!
