Matthieu Ricard is the author of Happiness: A Guide to Developing Life’s Most Important Skill. He is a Buddhist monk who left France, where he had a promising career in cellular genetics, to study Buddhism in the Himalayas 35 years ago. He has served as a translator for the Dalai Lama, is a renowned photographer and is involved in humanitarian projects in Tibet and Nepal. He is a leading researcher on neuroscience and its relationship to ancient Asian practices that focus on achieving mental clarity and emotional balance.
