Dear Jasmin,
I keep having this reoccurring dream, ever since I was little. I can be anywhere, in a meadow, in a living room, or on the sidewalk and I’ll suddenly decide I want to float. Now to float, I know that if I hold my breath, I’ll slowly rise into the air, and pretty high if I want to. I can drift around (slowly) by focusing my thoughts. At this point, the dream usually becomes semi-lucid. I recognize I actually am dreaming and start to feel a little frustrated and disappointed that I can only float in dreams and not real life. It’s as if I forget some trick in my waking world and lose this pleasure that I seem (at least in the dream world) to be very accustomed to. I know how to do it, I think, but why can’t I remember when I wake up?
That is a wonderful dream… someone dreaming like this realizes the potential we have in alternate realms. In fact you are truly moving your dream body around consciously. Holding your breath in the dream is showing you clearly the feeling of leaving your body. (This technique can be used when you are awake to communicate to your Spirit, the desire to travel astrally.) As you drift higher that is you moving into a higher realm…your disappointment is quite normal. However you must reprogram your self to know that is surely is possible to travel like this when you are awake, simply not in the physical format. The dreams we remember are the minds interpretation of things that happen as we journey through the night. Have you sat in meditation to experience what your dreaming self is teaching you?
When we sleep our spirit is free to continue exploring if necessary. You mentioned being able to move around slowly as you wished it. This is a good sign of the level you have reached as a dreamer. It is quite true that in order for us to move our spirit we simply have to will it, and it is so. Now teach yourself to become aware of where you choose to go during these times of celestial freedom. Look down at your hands and focus. This will bring you in touch with your consciousness. Know that your dream is real and make a powerful choice to create a beneficial journey.
You will easily be able to bounce, or jump, or fly …anything you choose. Prepare yourself before dreamtime to enhance the adventure. Create a dream altar and put appropriate crystals at your bedside. Place a pen and paper there to journal first thing in the morning. Develop a strong connection to your dream guide. Ask for them to be present with you at night and to assist you by honoring your specific requests. From here your dreams will get better and better. Enjoy !
I had similar dreams as a child. I would sit at the top of stairs…where ever I was in dreamscape. I would cross my arms and legs then lean forward a bit and I could take off. Once when I was about 6 I sat at the top of my grandparent’s staircase and cried because I couldn’t fly… Now I know this was my spirit’s way of telling me how to activate my MerKaBa…
Isn’t it amazing what we can learn as we sleep?
