This is a perfect time of year to clean house. No, I don’t mean your living space, we all know how important that is and how to do it, mostly. What I am talking about here is the space between your ears and everything below that space.
I am talking about clipping your history. Cutting your losses, loosening the crud we so often store in our tissues from our self-inflicted emotional wounds that show up perhaps years later as aches and pains, indecision, mental blocks and progress stoppers, making us sick, confused, emotionally unavailable or even worse, self-destructive.If you could clean up at least one or two issues everyday, let’s say, one long-existing issue from the past, and one current issue, that would be over 700 issues in a year. If you did it from now until January 1st, that would be over 60 issues that you could potentially clear out of your psyche and hopefully soon out of your body.
The body wants to heal. It is designed to heal. The problem is there’s a battle between what is faster and stronger, the destructive forces or the restorative forces. The choice is yours really. But you knew that already. The question is why do we sometimes choose to stew rather than to be free? Ah, it doesn’t matter really. Just clear out that hesitation to shine and you’ll shine.
Many people, (including myself) who have access to such incredibly powerful tools for positive change and emotional freedom hesitate using them or even push them away. ” It doesn’t work, it doesn’t work,” they cry. Or “I forgot about that”, or “Nah, I don’t need that, I’m just fine”, they”ll declare as they turn backs to their struggles and plod along feeling proud that they were strong enough to ’stand on their own feet.’ What is wrong with making those feet stronger?
Change is scary. If we clip our history, loosen those chains that hold up back, whoosh, we might change so fast, we wouldn’t know what hit us. Would that be so bad? I suppose it could be, but that is the price that comes with empowerment. It comes with new responsibilities and we can no longer make excuses for our lack of progress because now we are fully capable of moving forward. That can be scary. That is scary, in an exhilarating sort of way.
We can think of it as a roller coaster. Yes, occasionally people crash and burn from them but mostly, after the thrill of the ride, they are safely returned back to the ground, slightly transformed, feeling empowered and alive. Even those people who end up sick from all that commotion return to equilibrium after a while and that exciting feeling that we have survived, cannot be beat.
My suggestion? Clean house in preparation for the New Year. Let it be your end of the year ritual. Let it be magical, alchemical. Drop all your leaves to the ground like the trees do this time of year and go inside and do the important work that needs to be done to make next year outstanding, outrageously productive and incredibly fun and full of all that you wish for. Prepare for your dark night this Winter. Let it transform you. You may mourn your former self, your former life. Go thru the process this Winter so that you may rise up again, renewed, refreshed and transformed by the time Spring has arrived.
How? There are so many tools available these days. I’ve found one in particular and two absolutely that I resonate with. You can ask me about them or you can go find something else or ask someone else. Doesn’t matter. Just do it, do something. Find a way to clean house, THAT WORKS. No excuses. Not anymore….Time waits for no one. Make next year a stellar year. Make next year one year closer to who you really want to be, in your heart of hearts. Make it a good one.
