Bassnectar + Kin Britt Featuring: Sp. Guests Sub Swara
While existing as a mutating collaborative effort, BASSNECTAR is traditionally the amorphous music project of Lorin Ashton, a San Francisco based Musician / Producer / DJ, (“probably the largest cult following of any DJ in San Francisco” – SF Weekly) highlighted by massive basslines, thick mob scene beats, freakshow energy, emotive melodics, traditional acoustic instrumentation, and fearless mashing of genres, styles, sounds, moods, and approaches. Fusing elements of midtempo breakbeats, big beat, old school hip hop and dub, DnB, glitch, IDM, electronica, death metal, grindcore, punk rock, alternative, folk, swing, and jazz; and sampling anything from the human history of sound and music, Bassnectar might be most accurately described as “omni-tempo maximalism.” Rarely will you find a talent whose vision supersedes the boundaries of genre, until you have met KING BRITT. This Philadelphia native has found a way to escape the boundaries of a single category of music by expressing his creations through deep house, hip-hop, broken beat, nu jazz, funk and afro-tech. He has been honing his DJ and production skills for the greater part of a decade. The result: a pioneer of all things soulful, rhythmically textured and melodically provocative. Official Disco Biscuits TDB After Party Hallucinogen live, Shpongle DJ, Telepath
Hallucinogen aka Simon Posford is a pioneer of electronic music and founder of the psy-trance scene. With the release of his first album, “Twisted”, which reached Number 27 in the French album charts, a genre was born. There are many words to describe modern electronic music but none that come close to the wealth of emotion and experience that comes from listening to a Posford tune. These days he is just as likely to be entrancing crowds around the globe with a throbbingly epic live set as he is to be dribbling ambient delectations in the Hallucinogen Soundlabs in the West Country. He is co-director of Twisted Records with Simon Holton.

Aloha sustainable living enthusiasts
Spring is here and it is a great time to organize and re-invent ourselves after the long slumber of winter! And what better way to do that than with a fresh breath of sustainability in our bio-region. If you were unable to attend the network’s March 19th meeting, you will find this re-cap very insightful: The Really Really Free Market - The network has reserved a tentative date of April 19th (Saturday) with Andover Borough to hold the market at the Borough Park. This Is not the official date just yet, due to a certificate of liability that has yet to be completed. The official date and more information will be sent out soon within the next week. It was also decided that the date of April 19th is great in regards to April 22nd being Earth Day. Sustainability Library - The network is developing a library of films, books, magazines, articles and more to be open for everyone to learn more about every aspect of sustainable living. If anyone has books or resources that they would like to loan to the library please reply to this email. Farmer’s Market - Ideas were discussed in regards to a farmer’s market at the Gristmill Cafe. Cooperatively working with other area farmer’s markets and the Foodshed Alliance could increase the availability and diversity of foods in our local area. Transition Culture - Frank Cook is an inspiring guide to the world of Ethnobotany (the study of the relationship between people and plants) and will be giving a presentation on transition culture May 29th 7:00PM at the Gristmill Cafe.

Psycheground presents: E-Jekt Live
E-JEKT are Gadi Vered and Uri Azene from Tel Aviv, Israel. Gadi came from a heavy metal background as a drummer and searched for the same “feel” in electronic music. He met acid house and techno in the early 90’s and upon listening to trance, the future was set. Gadi has had an active part for many years in the global psy movement as an administrator at Isratrance. Uri was a professional sound designer, working at the top of the Israeli sound design industry for a decade. He has been a DJ since 1992 during the unforgettable DAT era. His musical influences are 60’s and 70’s psychedelic and experimental rock. E-JEKT’s music can be described as hard, unique, heavily psychedelic and free of fluff and cheese. The duo, currently continue to release and work on new music at a feverish pace and a 2nd E-Jekt album is well underway. The theme of the new album is kept true to the E-JEKT core concept: crushing quality dance floor beats. Friends, Romans, Countrymen (but especially Romans),
April Fool’s is upon us, and once again the only “tricks” I can think of are all major international crimes. It’s all for the best, then, that I’ve got plans that night: an evening of storytelling with some other sweet speaking denizens of NY. And so, if you’re trying to decide between hitting up a foreign bank (and calling “April Fools!” if caught) or sitting around the proverbial NY campfire (known as “beer”), choose the latter and join me for a night of autobiographical tales at Speakeasy on 4/1. For those who don’t know, Wanderlust is about going out into the Sahara and demanding an epiphany. Any epiphany. Some proof that we’re part of a grander story than the ones playing out inside our heads. Jean-Michele Gregory, the director, and (whoever wrote this) have developed the piece during performances in San Francisco, New York, and Westchester, and we’re excited to see how it’ll continue to evolve as we settle into one space for a while. Please come! And tell your friends about it. Our advertising budget is, you know, this email.

‘Shamanism is about not knowing - A Workshop with Christina Pratt
Literally, shamanism is about not knowing. It’s about going to the spirits to ask. When Ms. Pratt teaches, it isn’t academic, and she does not have a curriculum. This keeps the work vital and effective. She leads people into shamanism that’s completely appropriate for the particular group gathered. She does real shamanic healing ritual-not the same ritual over and over. She dances and get others to dance with abandon from their souls, even if they’re paralyzed by self-criticism, haven’t moved their hips their entire lives, or are sitting in a wheelchair. You will leave understanding how, why, and when to use what you learn. You will be able to take it with you, to use in your life, to live in a way that honors and celebrates the wholeness and integrity of your soul. CHRISTINA PRATT is the director of the Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing. Her book, An Encyclopedia of Shamanism, was just released. She offers a four-year path of mastery called The Cycle of Transformation and teaches a popular graduate course on the Foundations of Shamanism at the University of Minnesota. She’s a skilled healer of exceptional clarity, humor, and inspiration who deftly weaves her authentic shamanic experience, extensive training, and experience with shamans from Ecuador, Nepal, Tibet, and Africa into effective healing rituals for contemporary people. She frequently speaks for the American Holistic Medical Association and serves as the spiritual advisor to their Board.
