Mystic Skate Cup

So this is the biggest skateboarding competition in Prague. Skaters from all over the world come here every year to compete, chill, and enjoy some good music.

On July 6th this was to be our 3rd show of this tour.

I was flying pretty high from all the great vibes that were raised the night before. Really owning my swagger, which at times can be misunderstood by those afraid to own their own steps as somewhat off putting. To put it more simply, I think I may have stood out to the Prague metro police as someone to approach and mess with.

Which they did. They came up to me and my two companions as we exited the subway onto the platform. These cops were looking for our train tickets, which we bought, but my stoned ass lost somewhere along the ride. So the cops shook me down for 700 Krowns. Unfortunate. I paid it on the spot, and we got out of there on the way to the Mystic.

This experience left a real sour taste in my mouth. I was angry and did not feel like I was getting much help from my friends at the moment. I struggled to peace the feelings out very quickly as we approached the site the show, however there was still some intense emotions lingering.

We arrived at the site, greeted by Dowis, and then shown to the music area. The vibe of the place calmed my nerves a bit, as I was surrounded by tons of hardcore skater kids and lots of cute grrrls. However a not so pleasant interchange with a young and extremely jaded security guard furthered my quicken descent into angry Prop.

I walked with this anger for a spell, needing to just spit some shit in order to let it go. My new friend DJ Tobah and I were able to build on this experience of the subway police. He shared a similar story as mine, we concluded that actions such as what happened earlier are just manifestations of Babylon bullshit, and that the real bushido is not to let them get to us. Let them bite and gnarl at our wallets, the Babylon vibe wants way more than that. It wants to start at your wallet, then go to your soul.

This convo really helped me get back on track. Before hand I was toying with the idea of bringing this anger to the stage with me, and wondering how that might be absorbed by the audience. It can be done. There are many amazing performers who are highly gifted at working directly with rage in their sets.

This, however, was not the wisest choice for this place and time. My job was to continue the high vibration that was sparked two nights earlier, and to continue raising this vibe into dope party mode.

So when show time came I was in the right state of mind to get open on some cool fun shit.

Quick notes about the performence area, it was thus far the largest stage I have rocked so far in my mcing career. There was a lot of space and it was all pretty much filled to capacity.

The show went well. The crowd was very responsive, and afterwards I received some cool words from many different people.

My friend Carli video taped a large part of the show, so I look forward to checking it out to see the bits that need more fine tuning.

Overall Mystic Skate Cup was in the high range of fun. I would like to do more events like this in the future.
