Journey with the Sound of Crystal Bowls with Philippe Garnier

Join us for an evening of Sound Healing at the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors. It is an opportunity to feel yourself energized and vibrating at a higher frequency, merging with the Sacred Sound of the Crystal Bowls. Experiencing Scared Space,
and letting the Healing take place. Sound (the word) is the original creational tone. Everything is made up of energy at various frequencies. All things in nature vibrate to sound, light and color. Sound frequencies effect everything about us. The correct vibrational frequencies can be used to heal and balance our bodies.

Sound healing is the practice of using sound to realize and correct imbalances in the body. Sound healing works on the belief that the human body is not solid. Rather it is energy that is held together by sound. Any disease therefore indicates that some sound has gone out of tune.

Reality Sandwich presents…

Sneak Preview: “Footsteps in Africa: A Nomadic Journey”

Discussion with Director Kathi von Koerber,  Editor CC Treadway, Composer Jamshied Sharifi, and RS Editorial Director Daniel Pinchbeck

Catch a sneak preview of an exquisite cinematic journey followed by a discussion with the film’s director Kathi von Koerber, its editor CC Treadway, and composer Jamshied Sharifi.  “Footsteps in Africa, a Nomadic Journey” is a documentary, witnessing the colorful music of the daily life and ritualistic survival of the Saharan desert nomads of Mali. The Tuareg / Kel Tamashek relate their nomadic quest for freedom, their pursuit for oneness with life, and their integration of encroaching modern ways into their tradition of life. For thousands of years their survival reveals the innate wisdom of living as one with nature in the desert, allowing them to survive beyond droughts and their rebellions. Shot on 24P Video ,16 mm and interlaced with still  photography, the  film expresses the power of music, its frequencies, and the Tuareg’s courage, strength and willingness to face death.

The End of the World as We Know It with subMedia’s Frank Lopez

Since its humble beginnings in 1994, subMedia has grown from a small group of determined filmmakers into a grassroots network of socially and politically engaged artists and individuals. subMedia scrutinizes popular culture and media through the production of film, performance art, video, music and zines.  Equal parts performance and protest, an attitude of art following action defines subMedia’s productions.  From the regularly released and highly produced video blog “It’s the End of the World as We Know It,” to the collaborative documentary “Ground Noise & Static,” their work injects a radical analysis into the culture in a most entertaining way.  Please join subMedia founder, director and producer Franklin López (aka The Stimulator) as he steps out from behind the talking boxes to tour us through a video montage of his latest works, mixing culture jamming, news, radical commentary, music and action.  About “Ground Noise & Static.”  A video report on the protests that occurred in connection with the Democrat and Republican National Conventions, Ground Noise & Static is a manifesto. We went to Denver and St. Paul to take the pulse of the movement. Corporate media would cover the platitudes and posturing of the politicians, we were interested in something else, a story hidden in plain sight, captured in the now-classic street chant, “This is what democracy looks like.”  Ground Noise & Static is a joint effort of Franklin López of subMedia.TV and PepperSpray Productions. It is the direct result of a wonderful collaboration with many indymedia-style activists and journalists who all pitched in for the common good and success of their various efforts to tell their “Unconventional” stories.

Grace Nono - Philippine Sacred Chants and Intimations

Voice, Silence, Intention, Surrender, Intoning the Spirit Within. “In many different spiritual traditions including my own as a Filipino descended from ancestors indigenous to the Philippine archipelago, chant, movement, and other creative expressions are valid forms of intimation, prayer, and devotion. These are ways to connect with the divine; to enter sacred time and space; to be in the presence of the Holy Spirit.  At a time when wars continue to be waged between peoples in the name of religion; when the pursuit of material progress overshadows the pursuit of spiritual power; when disasters arising from human greed and ignorance threaten to destroy humanity and earth itself, we are reminded to take a step back, to take a deep breath, to reflect upon our lives, to reconnect and seek guidance from the divine in each of us in every culture, in every language, in every voice.  For many years now, I have been drawn to the study of chanted prayers from elders in many different parts of the Philippines. More than the search for intellectual understanding of my heritage as a Filipino, I see it as signifying a point in my journey as artist, where there is nothing more meaningful, nothing more satisfying, than to use my voice to allow me, and hopefully those around me, to enter such state of connectedness, humility, and grace.  To all of us who share in the experience, may the blessings be.”  For more information email - dancovan@gmail.com or kayhan@artivista.org
