Writers On Strike
This further supports my theory that all lawyers are, in fact, surrealists. If you want to abide by torture laws, simply reclassify a practice as “not torture.” A full episode of a tv show, online with paid advertising? That’s a “promo”, and the writers don’t get paid.

The Tao Of Money
Over time I’ve come to realize that finance is pretty trippy, as mystical as any tarot reading or chakra balancing. Money, especially fiat currency, is a consensual hallucination. Really, what is money, where does it come from? We use money to mediate value (value already being a thorny concept). But who creates money and […]

Reverend Billy on 9/11
And now a word from Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping on this Tuesday, September 11 2007:
9/11 Is On Tuesday This Year
9/11 has won American Idol. 9/11 is the second coming of Elvis, and the 9/11 is the delicious End of The World.
In other words, 9/11 is a drag queen standing on the […]

Evolution Control Committee - Rocked By Rape
I just heard this track on PirateCat Radio. Anyone who’s heard Harry Shearer’s send-ups of “The Dan” will have a special appreciation for the mix.

Souldish Is Topical! Army Counterinsurgency Field Manual On Daily Show
Souldish readers, I can only imagine your frustration at trying to bring up our subject matter at the water cooler. It’s difficult working Gnostic-raw food-dream machine-binaural tantra into a rehash of last night’s Letterman monologue. But today is your day! For on last night’s Daily Show, Lt. Col. John Nagl discussed the Army’s newest field […]

Military Manuals Are Fun
I posted about the First Earth Battalion Manual some time ago, maybe that whetted your appetite for more literature from the US Armed Forces? I think it’s fascinating to peek into the mentality of these institutions through their education materials, and we’re in luck. The US Army has provided dozens of searchable field manuals and […]

Rove Leaving, But The Tactics Remain
In honor of Karl Rove’s planned departure from the Whitehouse at the end of the month, watch this Frontline Documentary about Rove’s strategies and tactics. People refer to Rove’s nickname “Bush’s Brain”, but another moniker bestowed on him - “The Architect” - better illuminates what we need to learn about how he works. Rove played […]

Today I Schooled A Morman
Mormans are proselytizing on the L Train in New York City now, apparently. I think there may be a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints center in Bushwick somewhere, because I see young men wearing short sleeve, button-down shirts with ties around Maria Hernandez Park while I jog. I always figured they worked for […]
